More on Mattis

I observed in a recent post that Marine Lt. General Mattis is being unfairly treated for his admittedly poorly timed remarks concerning war making. Mac Owens, a former Marine himself, writes today that Mattis' comments, while truthful, should have not have been made in a room full of civilians, with the press present. That was Mattis' mistake, not uttering something that Marines and soldiers know to be true. Unfortunately, Mattis did not follow his own advice to his 1st Marines, as they prepared for the March to Baghdad: "Engage your brain before you engage your weapon."
